The Morni Chandra (ā¨ŽāŠā¨°ā¨¨āŠ ā¨āаā¨Ļā¨°ā¨ž) is our signature embroidery design â inspired by the peacock (morni), which holds deep significance in Punjabi culture as a symbol of grace, beauty, and celebration. Every outfit from Pehrawa Boutique features this hand-stitched peacock motif, making each piece a wearable work of art.
What is Morni Chandra?
"Morni" means peacock in Punjabi, and "Chandra" refers to the moon-like circular patterns that radiate from the central motif. Together, the Morni Chandra design creates a stunning peacock with fanned feathers, rendered in thread on premium Giza Cotton. The peacock has been a symbol of Punjab's vibrant culture for centuries â it appears in folk songs, wedding celebrations, and traditional textiles.
The Hand-Embroidery Process
Unlike machine-made mass-produced embroidery, every Morni Chandra piece is stitched by hand in our Bathinda workshop. The process includes:
- Design transfer â The peacock pattern is traced onto the Giza Cotton fabric by our senior tailor
- Thread selection â Colours are chosen to complement the base fabric (multicolour or gold/silver variants)
- Hand stitching â Each piece takes multiple days of careful needlework
- Quality check â Our production supervisor inspects every stitch before the garment proceeds to assembly
This handcraft approach means no two pieces are exactly identical â each carries the subtle uniqueness of human artistry.
Two Embroidery Variants
Multicolour Morni Chandra ($125 for Kids)
Vibrant, multi-hued peacock embroidery using a palette of greens, blues, golds, and purples. This variant captures the peacock in full colour â perfect for festivals and celebrations where you want the outfit to pop.
Golden/Silver Morni Chandra ($145 for Kids)
An elegant, refined variant using metallic gold and silver threads. The single-tone approach creates a sophisticated, regal look â popular for weddings and formal occasions.
Why Giza Cotton?
We chose Giza Cotton specifically because it provides the ideal canvas for hand embroidery:
- Extra-long staple fibres â smoother surface for detailed stitching
- Softness â comfortable against children's skin, no itching
- Durability â withstands the tension of dense embroidery without puckering
- Breathability â keeps kids cool during celebrations and events
